 John Dexheimer is President of LightWave Advisors, Inc. and has a record of success in helping leading edge technology firms for over 25 years. He has advised on over 100 completed company financings and mergers in software, communications, electronics and materials.  He has been involved in companies with operations in China, Europe, India and Israel. He has had several part-time operating roles in startups and mature technology firms with revenue of up to $400 million in addition to serving on several Boards of public and private firms. He has extensive history with venture capital investing as a co-investor and advisor on portfolio firms of many of the well know, active investors in technology sectors.  

He is currently an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Yale, a board member or advisor to several firms and on committees of the OSA trade group. He has been a part time partner since 2003 of First Analysis Private Equity Fund IV, and previously was a partner in Venture funds focused on enterprise software, electronics and communications. In his career as an investment banker he led the IPO of several firms in software, electronics and communications and subsequently managed the equity research, covering technology and healthcare sectors. He earned an MBA from Harvard University and a B.S. from the University of Minnesota, College of Science and Engineering where he is on the Dean’s Advisory and to the NSF Institute of Mathematical Applications.

 Gary Gerttula is an accomplished international executive with 25+ years of operations, strategy and business development experience and change management. He brings a strong accounting background and analytic framework from his early career years at Arthur Anderson and McKinsey. Field-tested in organizations large and small, in the last ten years he has focused on interim CEO/COO roles in small-mid sized firms and as an early stage quarterback with a bottom line focus. He brings a diverse industry background in technology (software, internet, semiconductors), media (online publishing, special effects/post production), and financial services (hedge funds, venture lending/leasing, equipment leasing).

As CEO or advisor, he has identified, negotiated and closed over 30 deals totally in excess of $300 million including mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, debt and equity. He is an advisor to a machine learning firm, and in the past 15 years he established the SF based Digital Garage Incubator affiliate of a large Asian internet payment systems and media firm; was interim COO of an education non-profit; CEO of a international business analytics software firm, was turnaround CEO of a visual effects firms; was start-up CEO for an IP patent consulting firm, and has been CEO of two healthcare services/information businesses. He holds a BA from the University of Washington and an MBA from Harvard University.

Mark Wippich has been Principal of MPW, LLC since 2007 and a partner with LightWave Advisors since 2009.  Mark has over 25 years in Optics-Photonics-Sensing Solutions. He was with New Focus (business units which are now parts of Newport Corporation and Oclaro) for 10 years in various engineering and general management roles as an early employee from bootstrap phase through its phases of hyper growth and ~$600M of private and public equity funding, and several mergers and divestitures. Among his roles were new product developments, operational integration across multiple sites, and advisor to senior management including in M&A. In that role he and John, a long time board member of New Focus worked together. Mark has also been an early participant in an internet service start-up and currently focuses on top management business development and M&A. Mark has an EE from the Santa Clara University Strozzi Institute and holds 3 Patents.
